Michael Q:

Angels in Motion (AIM) is a wonderful nonprofit Peer Recovery Support Organization that aims to treat substance use disorder (SUD) with compassion, love, and dignity. AIM’s mission and values include harm reduction, nonjudgmental assistance, empowerment, and treating everyone as an individual. Currently, AIM is filled with a diverse population of volunteers who provide interpersonal support leading with endearment, empathy, and understanding. Furthermore, my name is Michael Quigley, and I volunteer my time alongside Angels in Motion. We acknowledge that everyone’s path in life is different; therefore, so is everyone’s recovery. As a volunteer, I am committed to nonjudgemental assistance, and we offer essential resources, emotional support, and several pathways to recovery and stability for those who are sick and suffering from SUD, mental health, and/or co-occurring disorders. Since day one, I have felt a part of the “AIM family,” as they welcomed me with open arms and a warm heart. Additionally, they have allowed me to embrace change within myself, supported me while pushing forward in my recovery, as well as contributing back to the community and helping the next person. I enjoy helping others and undertake all that is necessary to have influence in someone's life, one day at a time. Sometimes, helping people smile and laugh can make a world of difference, along with helping those in need feel safe and letting them know that they are NOT alone. Angels in Motion is a remarkable organization, and they genuinely care about the welfare of others. Ultimately, I am overjoyed and grateful to be a member of the AIM family.

Brit K:

I first met Susan a long while back when I was homeless in Atlantic City. Every Friday night, she would be out there, trying to get as many people off the streets and into programs as she could. She always told me that when the time came and I was ready to seek help, Angels in Motion would be there every step of the way with me. I had lost everything battling addiction and homelessness. I was hesitant about going to a program because I didn’t have family or anyone to help, and I didn’t want to go away only to return to homelessness.

In September, when I was preparing to leave a program, Angels in Motion made it possible for me to transition into sober living with their funding. Not only was I fortunate enough to receive funding, but they also stayed true to their word about being there every step of the way. They helped me reclaim all my identification credentials, bringing me one step closer to becoming a responsible member of society. And it didn’t stop there; they provided rides to recovery events, court dates, dentists', and doctors' appointments that I would have never been able to make on my own.

I will be forever grateful for Angels in Motion and everything they do to assist people in transitioning into recovery. It is extremely overwhelming trying to get everything situated and figured out while starting over from scratch, but Angels in Motion makes it possible and ensures you’re not alone. Shortly after returning home, I started volunteering for them, especially during their blessing bag parties, so they could distribute them to the homeless. There were days when the only thing I would eat came from a blessing bag. Now, it’s incredibly important for me to give back and help those who are still struggling, just as someone did for me when I was in need.

If anyone else would love to share their testimony of being helped by Angels in Motion, please let us know 😇
